These long blades cut through anything it seems and don’t dull very fast either. In making a treehouse, I cut through trees, plywood, nails, 2×4s, treated 4×4 - all quickly and safely. I used the same blade the whole time - it never broke despite my bending it in akward positions while cutting and still seemed shard at the end.
Customer Review: For those hard to reach places
Every need to cut through a thick beam or reach that nail in a tight spot? This blade is great! I was a little skeptical at fist because the blade was so long but it is surprisingly sturdy. I have cut items that were hard to reach with just the tip with excellent control. I have also cut thick beams using the entire length of the blade without it getting bogged down. It is a great blade to keep in your case for those special projects.

Customer Review: Great tool and a good deal
I used my $50 Dewalt rebate for this and am most happy with my $29.99 reciprocating saw. I had forgotten that it was a factory reconditioned unit until I decided to read the other reviews. I see no signs that this saw is not a new unit. First thing out of the box I used the saw to cut a solid piece of 1.5 inch cold roll. I figured if it crapped out I’d just put it back in the box and send it back. As you can see from my 5 star rating I am impressed with this saw. I even cleaned it up and put it back in its hard-shell box instead of throwing it in the JoBox like I do with my other power tools. I’ve had good luck with all my Dewalt Recon tools. No problems whatsoever. Now Coleman/Powermate…Grrrrrrr!!! That’s a negative (-6) star review.
Customer Review: Pretty good, but
It doesn’t see much action in my line of work, so I bought it on the cheap. I like the way you can orient the blade either vertical or horizontal. But it doesn’t have the power (or orbital action) of my 30 year old Porter Cable. Its OK, and has managed to cut a 4-inch cast iron drain pipe.

Customer Review: Cool features - Didn’t last
This will definely get in those tight places that other sawzalls won’t. I got mine at HD for $99. They had it for months at that price but no more (this was several years ago). Anyway, I have only used it to remodel one house, not heavy usage by any means. Recently, the gearing tore up inside and it stopped reciprocating. I took it apart and it would be a simple part to replace but I have looked and looked at online parts sites and cannot find it. I have had to get parts for other Porter Cable tools so I know they are out there. It just burns me up to scrap a $200 saw for the lack of a $20 part. Porter Cable’s site is a joke. No help for parts there. Hope you never have to look on their site for parts or service. Another reviewer said that this is jerky. That is true, too. It will jerk you around and is tiring using for long. I have a lot of different brands of tools (Delta, Makita, Bosch, Ridgid) and Porter Cable is the only brand I have ever had to get replacement parts for, other than maintenance type things. I liked the saw all in all and would buy another for $99, but for $216, I’ll pass. It didn’t last long enough and like the other guy said, it’s nice to have for those few times when you need the variable angle but mostly a cheaper, regular sawzall will work better.

While this is a truly innovative design for a reciprocating saw, the fact that this is also the first cordless Sawzall with a vibration-reducing counterbalance mechanism should not be overlooked. This is a feature many of us have been waiting to see in the cordless Sawzall, and it is especially appreciated in uncomfortably close quarters, where any extra vibration and shock just makes your job more difficult. The Hatchet also has a different trigger configuration than other reciprocating saws. When the handle is folded, it feels like a cordless-drill grip and trigger, and when the saw is extended to its full length, it feels like the barrel grips found on grinders. This trigger setup is great when the handle is folded, but not as ideal when the tool is at its full length and being used like a traditional Sawzall. As with Milwaukee’s other Sawzalls, this one features the excellent tool-free blade-changing system that reverses the blade when needed, and it has a fully adjustable pivoting shoe. Customer Review: This is NOT a Sawzall!
Nobody every asks for a “reciprocating construction saw” — they ask for a Sawzall. Neglecting the fact that it’s a much more convenient term, you have to realize that the Milwaukee name has been synonymous with these tools for longer than I want to admit knowing about them, and I’ve *never* used one in a situation where the convenience of cordless operation would outweigh the need for a REAL power tool. Get a Sawzall, or if 11 amps isn’t good enough the 13-amp Super Sawzall . They’re famous for a reason. Cheaper too.

Customer Review: Dewalt 18V tool combo.
I bought this set a couple of years ago, and use all of the tools regularly. The first and foremost bit of advice is this: don’t compare these to corded tools. This should go without saying, but to set realistic expectations, battery-operated tools simply can’t perform at the level of (or for the duration of) their corded counterparts.

That being said, the kit does come with a quick charger (about 2 hours for a full charge) and a second battery, so you can tackle large jobs without long charging interruptions.

The drill gets used pretty much daily, and I’ve never had a problem with it. It’s got plenty of power, and the clutch comes in handy when screwing into delicate items. It also has 2 speeds for greater versatility and control.

The circular saw slices its way through boards as swiftly and eagerly as my 120V Craftsman saw — of course it won’t tackle that many without changing the battery, but you knew that already…

The reciprocating saw is one of my favorites too. The fact that it is cordless makes it irreplaceable in certain circumstances. I’ve put aggressive blades on it, and pruned 3″ branches off my maple trees. I’ve also chopped through some pretty thick stainless steel lag bolts with the hack saw blades. Hold on tight — this thing has some torque to it!

Lastly, there is the flashlight. When I purchased this kit, I thought I would never use it. Strangely, I find that I use that thing more and more. It is very convenient, adequately bright, sits upright on its own base (which is the battery), and can wrap around pipes, etc. to accommodate odd-angle lighting.

The carrying case is pretty much your average run of the mill blow-mold plastic box, but it does make a great storage container. Overall, I gotta give this 5 stars; I would be mechanically helpless without this set. Well, maybe not, but I sure would miss it!
